Burlington's Community-Owned Grocery Co-op Since 1973
Located in the vibrant city of Burlington, Vermont, City Market, Onion River Co-op has been a fixture in the community serving quality and local goods since 1973. Thanks to our dedicated Members and community, what started as a small buying club has grown into two locations with over 12,000 Members. Our Downtown and South End stores are open daily, and all are welcome.
City Market provides a critical service to the residents of Burlington and the larger community by offering a wide variety of local, organic, and conventional products at a fair price to all. We also offer a hot and cold food bar, grab and go meals, coffee and tea, a made-to-order sandwich bar, and a deli.
What Is a Hybrid Co-op?
City Market isn't your average grocery store, and we aren't the typical co-op either. We're a hybrid co-op by design — meaning we carry a wide range of both organic and conventional products to fit every budget. This includes thousands of local and made-in-Vermont brands as well as national favorites.
Our Mission & Values
City Market, Onion River Co-op is dedicated to supporting the local economy and strengthening the local food system. We work with more than 300 local vendors and regularly stock over 3,500 local or made-in-Vermont products.
We regularly stock over 3,500 local or made-in-Vermont products, and local and made-in-Vermont products account for 45% of our sales.
