Sahlab is a Middle Eastern milk pudding thickened with cornstarch or arrowroot powder. It is warm, rich, floral, and toasty.

Ingredients
4 cups milk
1⁄4 cup cornstarch
6 teaspoons sugar
1 tablespoon rose water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
cinnamon, ground
pistachios (chopped)
1 tablespoon coconut (shredded)
1 teaspoon almond extract
Instructions
Combine milk, cornstarch, sugar, rose water, and vanilla extract in a saucepan and beat with a whisk over medium heat. Bring to boil and let the mixture boil for 2 minutes while stirring (or until thick and creamy).
Serve hot in mugs and top with a pinch of cinnamon, shredded coconut, and pistachios on each serving.
