Lunch Tray Campaign Results
We recently completed a ten day donation campaign held September 5 through September 14 to benefit Hunger Free Vermont’s child nutrition programs. City Market customers had the opportunity to give a suggested donation of one dollar to Hunger Free Vermont and sign a paper “lunch tray” that read “I Fed a Child”. By the end of the week, Co-op customers had donated $2,971.05 to Hunger Free Vermont. The “lunch tray” cards were on display in the store throughout the week to show Co-op patrons’ support for ending childhood hunger in Vermont.
During the ten day donation campaign, Local First Vermont hosted a launch party at the Co-op for the 2014-2015 Buy Local Coupon Book. During the launch party, City Market donated two dollars to Hunger Free Vermont for each coupon book sold, for a total of $206, bringing the total Lunch Tray Campaign donation amount to $3,177.05 for Hunger Free Vermont. By doing so, the Co-op aimed to reach even more customers to educate them about the critical work that Hunger Free Vermont does around the state.
Hunger Free Vermont is a statewide organization whose mission is to end the injustice of hunger and malnutrition for all Vermonters. Through advocacy and education, Hunger Free Vermont feeds children, adults, and seniors, and provides nutrition education by teaching communities to cook. All donations from the City Market Lunch Tray campaign will directly support Hunger Free Vermont’s child nutrition programs.
“We are excited about the continued success of our annual donation and education campaign partnership with City Market,” remarked Marissa Parisi, Executive Director at Hunger Free Vermont. “Not only are we raising money to address child nutrition throughout the state, but we are creating engagement around the issue of hunger in Vermont and the solutions that exist.”
