New in Produce: Local Black Walnuts in Shell
Here are some tips from Elmore Roots:
- Store in a dry place at room temperature.
- Will keep in shell for over a year!
- To crack, hit nut firmly between two hard surfaces, like a hammer and stone. Tap shell gently and work the kernels out rather than smashing the whole thing to pieces.
- Once cracked, keep nut meats in a jar in the fridge.
