Co-op Spring Renovations!
For many months now, we’ve been diligently planning for the first major facelift the Co-op has seen in a few years. You’ll notice two different projects during the month of March and we hope you’ll appreciate the improved service and traffic flow through the store as much as we will!
Starting on the evening of Monday, March 11, we will disassemble the portions of our hot food bar and salad bar that are nearest the cash registers. These sections will be removed and reassembled near the deli case (where the pastries and coffee/tea condiments are now). You’ll continue to find your favorite breakfast and lunch options each day. We’ll create a new shelving unit to hold the pastries, which will move over to the salad bar location. The coffee/tea condiments will be located in a new spot next to the coffee and hot water. These changes are temporary, but will allow us to make room for updates to our cash register lanes later in March. Later in the summer, we’ll be sharing information on a redesign of the entire Prepared Foods Department, which encompasses the sandwich bar, deli counter, cheese case, baked goods, salad bar, hot & cold food bar and coffee/tea.
Starting on the evening of Monday, March 25, new cash register equipment will be delivered and we’ll start installing a new setup for our lanes. This will include a redesign of our Customer Service desk as well. We anticipate this work will last for three or four nights. When it’s completed, we’ll offer two additional checkout lanes and three additional cash registers. We’ve also taken a look at alleviating problem areas for in-store traffic flow by widening some of the checkout lanes.
For both projects, the majority of the work will take place overnight to minimize the impact on our customers and employees. If you’re in the Co-op sometime between 9pm and closing at 11pm, you may notice some prep work taking place to get ready for the evening’s work.
We appreciate your patience during these projects! We’ve scheduled them during evening hours to minimize store impact, but if you have any questions, please ask us. We’re excited about the potential to serve you better in the near future!
