June Featured Member Artist - Judy Rice

As a native of Maine, the magazine Downeast was always in our house and after moving to Vermont at the age of 11, Vermont Life was added.  The photos in both of these magazines were the catalyst for my landscapes.  I eventually added photos of friend and family vacations, backyard gardens, pets, or, as you can see from this display, whatever captures my attention.  As for portraits—sorry, but that’s a no go.  As my Dad told me one day, “You cannot do people,” and he was correct.  I cannot for the life of me paint people!

I create because I love to see the smile on the face of those the artwork is intended for, and I have found that I enjoy most mediums whether it is in oil, acrylic, watercolor or pastel.
