Winter Forest Ecology Walk

Join Chittenden County Forester Ethan Tapper for an educational walk of Ethan Allen Park. Tapper’s work focuses on advising landowners and municipalities on how to manage forests responsibly for multiple resources and benefits, like wildlife habitat, renewable forest products, ecosystem services and carbon sequestration and storage in light of the increasing threats of climate change, invasive species, and forest fragmentation and loss to development. The walk will focus on forests, forest ecology and forest management, and opportunities to manage forests to produce local, renewable resources in a way that is restorative and sustainable. Please plan on wearing appropriate layers and footwear for some gradual uphill walking in whatever weather we find ourselves in, and for some sustained periods of standing and talking.
