Discover the joys of baking sourdough breads! In this class, we’ll learn how versatile (and forgiving) sourdough starter is and how it can be put to work in favorite bread recipes (or even pastries!). We will see the different stages of a starter, learn when it's ready to use, and taste several varieties of freshly-baked sourdough breads. There will be plenty of time for discussion and questions, and every participant will go home with a starter culture. Heike Meyer is the owner of Bee Sting Bakery in Fairfax, a small artisan bakery specializing in whole grain naturally leavened breads and pastries.
