Maple Sugaring in Vermont: City Market’s Winter Farm Tour
March is maple season in Vermont when the sap in the sugar maples flow. On this late winter farm tour, we’ll visit Turkey Hill Farm where they still tap trees the old fashioned way, hanging metal buckets from each tap. Farmers Margaret and Stuart Osha have been sugaring on their farm in Randolph for decades. They’ll show us around their sugar bush, and we’ll bask in the steam of their wood-fired sugar house, learning about the syrup making process. Margaret will also show us how to make maple sugar by boiling the sap down until it becomes a granulated sugar. We’ll share lunch together in the sugar house – Margaret will prepare a special lunch for us!
On our way home, we’ll drop by Neighborly Farms where they make another Vermont specialty – cheddar cheese. Farmer Linda Dimmick will show us around their barns and cheese room and then give us a taste of their cheeses.
Join us for this special tour and workshop! Transportation (from City Market) and lunch are provided. Limited spaces are available and our farm tours fill up quickly. Reserve your space today for this unique opportunity.
