Learn about the art of sourdough bread baking with Phil Merrick of August First Bakery. Phil will go over the history of leavening and baking bread, how to manage your own sourdough culture, the different types of flour that can be used, and methods for mixing and baking a great loaf. Participants will go home with a sourdough starter to get started baking. August First has been supplying City Market with rustic, European-style breads since 2011.
