3 Not-To-Miss Beverage Pairings During the Big Cheese Sale

With our annual Local Beer Sale kicking off today, we asked our friends at Zero Gravity to share their top beer pairings with cheeses on sale during The Big Cheese Sale through Sunday, September 20. These three offerings also leave room to pair with our Green State Zero and Conehead Zero for folks who don’t imbibe!

During the beer sale (through September 30), save 10% off 2 or more 4-packs of local beer, cider and ready-to-drink beverages available at the Co-op, so stop by while both sales are going on and pick up these 3 baller beer pairings!

Conehead Haze with Shelburne Farms 2-Year Aged Cheddar

Pine and citrus notes from the Conehead IPA cut through the sharpness of the aged cheddar. The IPA's bitterness also balances the cheese's saltiness nicely. This pairing is all about balance between the two.

Green State Lager with Champlain Valley Creamery Triple Crème

The white bloody rind and high fat content of this cheese is perfect for a pilsner pallet cleanser. Green State is a crisp, bold German-style pilsner. It’s dry, effervescent body and strong hop and malt character stand up to the earthy, funky notes of a soft bloomy-rind cheese, while helping cleanse the palate of its rich, creamy texture. A bit of give and take.

Oktoberfest with Jasper Hill Farm Alpha Tolman or Whitney

Our Märzen ("Oktoberfest") is a crisp, slightly malty, light amber lager inspired by the great Festbiers of Germany. These beers have a long history of pairing with alpine-style cow's milk cheeses, and these Jasper Hill selections deliver perfectly — toasted nuts, meat, and sweet cream. This pairing builds on shared flavors, intensifying what's already there in each.
