Welcome to the Community Teaching Kitchen!
It is with great excitement that we announce the grand debut of City Market’s Community Teaching Kitchen. The Community Teaching Kitchen is housed on the second floor of City Market’s South End location, and will be home to a full array of cooking classes and community workshops all year long.
What will you find here?
We’ll be developing new recipes and finding creative and delicious ways to use seasonal and local products, and options that fit every dietary style. You can find new recipes to try every month posted throughout both stores (but don’t worry, each store will have the same recipes). Quick tip: Collect recipe cards and store them in a photo album so they’re protected and easy to grab. These recipes highlight ingredients that are seasonal and locally available, and are adapted to be family friendly (think busy weeknight). You’ll also find creative spins on old favorites. If hanging on to these cards isn’t your thing, you can always find our recipe collection on our website.
But most of all, we’ll be using the Community Teaching Kitchen as a space for you to learn basic cooking skills, to try your hand at making meals from all over the world, and to celebrate what our community has to offer. There’s no limit to the creative energy that this kitchen can support. With an 8-burner gas stove, griddle top, grill cook top, and individual work tables, participants can enjoy hands-on opportunities and the space to sit down and enjoy a finished meal in our spacious Community Room. You’ll find old favorites here, like series offerings of Mosaic of Flavors and The No-Fuss Kitchen, as well as speciality events with local guest instructors. The offerings are a combination of workshops that require pre-registrations and events that cater to the drop-in style, so be sure to check out the details to let you know what to expect!
Check out our calendar of offerings to see what’s coming up. And for our social media lovers, use #ctkrecipes and #ctkclass to share your experience!
