Ingredients
2 cups heavy cream
1⁄4 cup buttermilk, cultured
Instructions
In a quart jar or container, mix the buttermilk and cream.
Stir or shake well. Cover and let set at room temperature until thick. (This will take 12-24 hours depending on the temperature. It sets up faster in a warmer place.) When cream is thick, it’s done and will keep in the refrigerator for at least 2 weeks.
Notes
Crème fraîche can be used anywhere you’d use sour cream and in many other recipes, sweet or savory. It’s also delicious on its own as a topping for fruit, pie, soup or burritos. We hope you’ll enjoy this lovely and simple French treat.
